A small, but mighty new snack is set to make an important impact as part of the Prostate Cancer Foundation’s annual awareness and fundraising campaign – Blue September.
Blue Balls, produced by Prostate Cancer Foundation New Zealand (PCFNZ) partners, Loaf, using Nut Brothers peanut butter, are a tasty, on-the-go snack that will help raise awareness of the campaign and will raise vital funds for the Foundation, with 40 cents from each pack sold going to support Blue September.
An important feature of Blue Balls is to encourage customers to visit http://prostate.org.nz/blueballs/ where they will find important, helpful and life-saving information on prostate and testicular cancers.
PCFNZ CEO, Graeme Woodside, says the new product is a clever way to not only raise funds for a worthy cause, but also raise awareness about the importance of early detection.
“Each year, over 3,500 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in New Zealand and the funds raised during the Blue September campaign enables our Foundation to provide support to those men and their families living with prostate cancer,” Graeme Woodside says.
“We are delighted to partner with Loaf and Nut Brothers to bring Blue Balls to the market. It provides an opportunity to create awareness about prostate cancer and the importance of early detection while raising much needed funds during our Blue September Campaign.”
Countdown is getting behind the Blue September campaign by selling Blue Balls in their supermarkets throughout New Zealand during this Blue September. They can also be purchased online from: https://www.loafshop.co.nz/shop/blueballs
Thanks to the support of Loaf, Nut Brothers and Countdown, 40 cents from the sale of each pack of Blue Balls will go to support Prostate Cancer NZ and Testicular Cancer NZ.
Jono Wood, Director of Natures Foods Ltd, producers of Nut Brothers says “as a survivor of testicular cancer I know first hand how disregarded men’s health can be. This is a fantastic cause to support as awareness and education is the first step to early detection, which will save many lives.”
Steve Mills, Countdown’s General Manager Merchandise & Replenishment says, “I’m really proud to be supporting Blue September this year and this product is a really clever way to start an important conversation – one that not enough of us men are having. If Blue Balls can start at least one potentially life-saving conversation, then we think that’s a cause worth supporting.”
Blue Balls will also be available at Fresh Choice supermarkets and selected Super Value stores.
