Senior Herald writer Simon Wilson was diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent surgery in early 2018, a journey he documented in his Cancer Diaries published in the NZ Herald.

Prior to Christmas 2020 he made daily visits to Auckland City Hospital where he “found fear and hope in 33 days in the radiotherapy room”.
