What We Do

Our four key pillars of work

To achieve of Vision to 'significantly reduce suffering and death from prostate cancer' Prostate Cancer Foundation NZ is focussed on four key pillars of work: Advocacy, Education, Research and Support.

Advocacy

PCFNZ is committed to being the voice of all those living with the disease, representing their interests (and those of their families) to government, health and medical agencies to improve standards of care across Aotearoa New Zealand.

On 27 July 2023 we formally presented the petition of Kristine Hayward to Parliament. With more than 30,000 signatures Kristine's petition calls for the implementation of a funded, risk-based, equitable prostate cancer testing regime in New Zealand.

Education

One of our most significant challenges is raising awareness of the disease and the importance of early detection. Prostate cancer is a survivable disease if caught early but many will not experience symptoms, and by the time they are tested and diagnosed their treatment options have diminished.

What We Do Education

Research

The Prostate Cancer Foundation of NZ (PCFNZ) has a proud history of supporting innovative research projects that seek to improve clinical outcomes, further our knowledge of prostate or testicular cancer, inform approaches to high quality support for those affected and assist us to advocate towards eliminating death and suffering from prostate and testicular cancer in Aotearoa New Zealand.

What We Do Research

Support

A prostate cancer diagnosis can be an anxious and confusing time for everyone involved, including families and whanau, often presenting more questions than answers. Many find the information and shared experiences available through our support network very helpful.
